Wahey! Good one. Not a lack of ambition at all, in fact its almost a statement of ambition. He wants to go up a league or stay here and go up.

No no. He hasn't said that he doesn't want to.

You're a League 2 side, no? Then he won't be joining you, and he's said that he doesn't want to.

Make your mind up, first you say he wants to go up a league, then you say he wants to stay at Oxford.

Having an Oxford player come out and say,
"Let me talk to Swindon"

Is brilliant.

Whether it's true or not, that's made my day.

Now for Leven please Paolo.

Failing that, how much mischief can the TEF work on rumour sites?

Make your mind up, first you say he wants to go up a league, then you say he wants to stay at Oxford.

It was a simple statement, try reading it again?

"He wants to go up a league or stay here and go up."

He'd go up a league to the right offer, remember that a potential move to Bournemouth fell through even after agreeing a contract.

If you offered enough money for Constable then our board would probably do a deal because we can't turn down big offers. But seeing as your club made it so public that they turned down a £500k offer for Ritchie, its going to take something significant.

"He wants to go up a league or stay here and go up."

Its quite clear, try reading it again. If he stays with you he won't be going up will he. HTH.

IMO you can keep him.  I think he would only be good to help us get up next season, as he isn't good enough for L1.  On that basis, we will go up without him.

Makes me laugh to see him disrupt your non league camp

It was Bournemouth that made the Ritchie bid public on their website, not our board.

And surely Ritchie is worth substantial multiples of Constable's value, Ritchie having proved himself to be a star at this level and only 22 years old compared with a 27 y.o. journeyman who's been reasonably succesful in pub leagues.

I didn't know it was Bournemouth who went to press, fair enough.

Ritchie is of course worth more than Constable. But if we know that you're in a position to reject £500k bids (we are not) for any player, then we're going to ask a fair whack from you for our main striker.

Wouldn't you like Deane Smalley instead? He scored loads for Chesterfield last season. You could have him for £100k.

Why is it that, now we're playing on the bottom rung of the League, we're suddenly a 'buying club' and need a squad of 300 players?  And how are we able to afford it anyway?

I'm tired.

Likewise if we'd accepted £500K for any player then prices would escalate as other clubs would expect us to be spending a chunk of the proceeds!

The money that's being talked about for Constable is ridiculous to my mind, though I can't blame Oxford for wanting to up the price as much as poss.  It would be a difficult one for them to turn down I would have thought (IF the quoted amounts are in the right ballpark) as there can't be many clubs queueing up to buy him at that price.

I would regard any figure you read on forums etc. as complete bollocks, not worth talking about.
