I love that show. I spend far too much time watching More4.

Me and the missus plan on doing our own grand design one day. Mortgage will be paid off before we're both 40, so a self build purely from cash is the ultimate dream.

Most of the initial cost comes from the purchase of the plot it's self. It's a great idea in theory tho, design and build your own house. Kevin McCloud is one of the most enthusiastic and interesting presenters ever. Must admit I'm a sucker for property shows, don't know why, guess I just like certain types of architecture, love anything Deco. Location, Location, Location, Place in the Sun, love anything like that.

That's a quality dream Sam.

I love the summaries he gives at the end. The bloke is superb. I love the way he's completely natural and is both candid and very knowledgeable. I'm not sure I could watch it without him presenting it. But then I've also watched a couple of the Grand Designs Australia and it's no less enjoyable.

We've not thought about it in too much detail, the dream's 15 years away yet!

I want something with amazing views. Being perched on the side of a hill would be good. Then have floor to ceiling windows all round. Have you seen the one where the couple buy a derelict castle and build it back up again? They had an amazing roof terrace with big glass windows into the bedroom. That would be ideal.

What about that Belfast monster? That was quite incredible. Slightly on the fucking huge size and in some respects a bit vulgar, but it remains one of my favourite Grand Designs mainly for the bargain price (when looking at the price relative to the home!) of about £300k by recollection.

No, although that one is kind of what I'm planning on Barry.

I found the one I meant: http://www.channel4.com/4homes/on-tv/grand-designs/episode-guides/yorkshire-the-14th-century-castle-08-06-02/display/subpage/2

I love the way the attic room opens onto the roof terrace. Not so keen on the rest of the house though.

If I had millions, my ultimate house would be Tony Stark's cliff top mansion in Iron Man.

McCloud doesn't half waffle shit. "The way the younger additions seem to naturally slot on to the older exterior has given a lease of life to the dilapidated shell. The ancient crumbling brickwork has a look of fresh excitement, without hiding the true age of the features".

That might be true Kevin, but are describing a house or an OAP who has got three wrinkly digits knuckle deep in a 15 year old?
