Could be good for us, Macc being an unhappy hunting ground for the Town over the years, of course it depends on who they appoint.

I didn't even realise Paul Hurst had left Shrews for Ipswich 2 days ago.

Where has that come from.

Have to admit I'm a bit twitchy about him not having signed despite "being close". But then, none of them have yet...
Matt is in Toulon on some FIFA mission with the under 21 tournament as part of his pro-licence and acccording to PB he is straight off on a family holiday!!  Wont here much until they report back for training.

Yep England U21s playing in the Toulon Tournament. Currently beating Qatar 3-0. If you have 10p or more in a B365 account you can watch for free. Maybe online elsewhere though.

I agree, its like a lot of these ex international players think they have a God given right to become good managers just because they have played at the highest level.
Not being argumentative, but do you see it being very different from Macari (ok, Div 4), Ossie, Hoddle, Di Canio (again Div 4 so a little different)?

I'd say it's more the expectation level at those particular clubs. Rangers fans think they should be back to winning SPL titles and being in the Champions League proper. They may well be close but they've still got a big gap to be level with Celtic. The fans will want that achieved this coming season, if not bye bye. Realistically it could take another season or two before they retain the Scottish title.

Derby, similar the fans believe they should be in the Prem. Their set up and spending is good enough to go up and sustain it. However no matter how much money Mr.King (and others before) have thrown at it, they've either just fallen shy or come straight back down. Derby are well supported and loyal fanbase. They would still turn up if they dropped to L2. I'd imagine 23k would still go to matches at that level. Their stadia holds 33k I believe. Yet they still expect to be a Prem Club. I fear Big Frank will find it overwhelming to manage that whole scenario. I'm sure he's aware.

If I remember it, the expectation from our fans at the appointment of Ardiles and Hoddle was not so huge at that time. Definitely not at the expectation level of Rangers. Also the money levels are so huge now. Back then the 'gap' between the Div1/Prem and Div2/Endsleigh Div1 was not as big.

I've wittered on, but I think Big Frank should've taken a League One job, Shrews would've been good, less expectation but a decent set up with a solid base to work from and learn his trade. Gerrard I feel should have stuck around the Liverpool set up a bit longer and again start his managerial career lower down. Exeter or M.K Franchise could've been decent places to learn.

It's not ex players getting a gig....it's where!

Divvy 1 and 2 then fair enough but going straight into a massive club (shit league) like Rangers with zero managerial experience....madness!

Rumours on the Exeter forum that Tisdale turned down the MKD job which is why Ferguson resigned allowing him to take the job in the great merry go round.

Hope that's true, much better fit.  Hated Ferguson since his filthy playing days at Wrexham, will always hate MKD, obviously.

Aren't franchise supposed to be skint and falling, seems a very odd choice, things must be particularly shit at Doncaster!
