Steve Cotterrill gets 羨rry the twitches old job

The decision to sack Rowett, when they were around the PO's to end up with Cotterill a few months later with Zola and Arry in between, not looking too clever.

Having Cotterill in the stands inspired the players then. To a 6-1 defeat

Port Vale appoint former Vale player Neil Aspin as manager, a bit left field.

Never set the world alight at Gateshead with a large budget, probably larger than his budget will be at Vale.

Aspin was one of those players who we regularly seemed to be up against, I'd guess late 80's early 90's. Noticeable for being fair haired and receding from an early age.

Yeah I remember him playing against us a lot back then, solid defender if uninspiring, probably the same as a manager.

EDIT: He played against us 12 times back then between 87 and 97, 9 times for Vale and 3 times for Lids, so a fair few games.

Steve Evans favourite for the Gills job, maybe Mansfield will be managerless come next Saturday when we play them.

Evans has not come out in public saying he is not interested....sound familiar?

Gills made 2 approaches apparently for him and rejected both time - but I see he has come out complaining about their fans booing the team and he apologized on behalf of the fans to the players

If Evans hangs on a bit longer and gets some results, he could be in line for the Sweatie job.

Not so long ago, late period Ferguson Sweatie bosses were all the rage, you had the likes of  Mackay, Moyes, Coyle, Lambert in the Prem. The Norwich fella was probably the last of the taciturn, slightly menacing, prematurely ageing, slight of stature types that wee Gordon wants to selectively breed out of the population north of the border. Think Moyes, put paid to the noble line dating back to Stein and Shankly.

Even someone of promise from lower down like Gary Caldwell at Wigan got a rapid p45.... I suppose judging things on how his side bullied and intimidated Luke's XI at the CG couple of years back, was never going to be much of an indicator.

One of the best operators in Jockoland, Archibald sounded as if he'd walk to the CG for a chance to work with Power rather than Partick, and that wasn't enough.

Neil got a gig somewhere post Norwich, but there can't be too many Scots currently employed in a managerial hot seat, besides the former Boston Behemoth.

Then he must be just in front of Evans... surely the SFA won't give it to Moyes  Hmmm
