Some of our fans wanted him before Kmac was given the job, then again a few wanted Martin Allen and Kevin Blackwell was touted as well, all now out of work in this last week, several bullets effectively dodged it would appear.
Not really. Just because it doesn't work for a manager at one club doesn't mean he won't be a success at another. And especially in the case of Allen and Blackwell, as others have pointed out in this thread, both sackings reflect more poorly on the board/chairman than they do on either manager - neither given the backing to do the job properly then sacked when results unsurprisingly didn't look as good as the board had hoped on the basis of what? Wild optimism, presumably? For the record, I wouldn't want either of them here, but it's daft to talk about it as "bullets dodged" just on the basis of them being sacked. And conversely, many looked at Cooper's past record and found it uninspiring but he seems to be doing really rather well here. Again, you have to look at the circumstances they were working in, not just the WDL or whether they were eventually sacked. |

unlike his thoroughly likeable, if hapless uncle Les who was sacked from a thoroughly loveable club .... and unlike his thoroughly entertaining cousin Paul who played for the for the same loveable club but who might have been seen as a thoroughly dislikeable c*** by some fans for the way he (occasionally) publically humiliated oppo full backs. Dislikeable or not, Martin Allen has a very fair managerial record but being sacked by Scally may well be a blessing rather than unlucky |
