The journey back from the 2nd leg at the Withdean was one of the worst feelings I've ever had at football.

Never forget the Brighton fans running onto the pitch and straight over to our side to goad us. Awful night.

Soaked through too!

I'm quite happy to stand alone here but I thought King was a clueless, arrogant, useless fucker

I'm with you. He only knew how to abuse players from the touch line, not encourage them

For whatever reason, it was the early parts of the Andy King era that almost killed my interest for Swindon Town. Never questioned my support before or after him.

Also, they were my most productive years Smiley

I didn't like him but he didn't deserve the abuse he got.

I think it was a difficult time for the club as a whole.

He tenure before us, with us and after us I think has clearly shown he's a good man to have at a football club in any capacity other than manager!

He found some good players for us. He did outstay his welcome and should have gone in summer 05.

i remember at one of the first games of the season after the playoffs a chap at the back of the townend chanted 'we want kingy out' and the whole stand turned on him and he had to get escorted out by stewards followed by everyone chanting wanker. good times. i enjoyed the king era in whole, a proper good team he assembled with fallon, parkin, mooney, igoe, howard, migs. all went to shit when parkin left and his replacements in tony thorpe and cureton let him down. I remember the first game at oakwell and the positivity in the stands and then we realised how shit they were

I can remember an away game, quite where I forget, but it was oop north, when we were winning quite comfortable, 3-0 I think.  Kingy made a substitution mid-way through the second half, which involved a left back coming on at right back - or it could have been the other way round! - and everybody having to switch across the back four to accommodate it.  We went from looking comfortable to absolute schoolboy defending and lost 4-3 - if my memory serves me correctly.  I always thought he was an arrogant shit!!

11 minutes into that game I predicted our relegation. Pook was playing left wing.

Of course that was the season after the season after the play offs. Our first post play off game was away at Wrexham.

They got a penalty when Chris Armstrong elbowed Grant Smith. Young Andy Caton tapped in for us in the last minute or 2.

Stockport 3-3

Think the sub was a returning Heywood who went to centre back, Ifil moved to right back, Paul Mitchell went to left back and Grant Smith stayed on the bench.

Luke Beckett scored twice I think. My memory isn't what it used to be mind you.

2003/04 was all well and good but King was involved in close to three seasons ( what with Evans' stint and all)... and it wasn't inspiring in any way. A last ditch goal to prevent us from going in to the bottom division being a highlight!

Parkin changed it all and then 2003/04 arrived, gave us all a reason to be cheerful for the first time in close to a decade and then it all went to shit again.

It was jerel's fault

For 89 minutes of every game it wasn't, but then he lost concentration and became Jerel Awful...

Cheers DV, I remembered after I posted it was Stockport (where are they now!) but I still had it in my mind that we actually got beat!!  Thanks for refreshing my memory.
