It is funny how these names drop in and out of the footballing conversation. Forgotten he even existed.

If you add in the top end Conference sides there are about 100 managers at any one time..of those prob at the seasons end about 20 might be considered successful. The other 80 are in danger of the sack, although some of the successful ones will be as well.  You probably get 2 or 3 cracks at being successful, before falling off the merry go round all together.

You can then step into the assistant or assistant to the assistant. All very lucrative, because if sacked you have to paid up in full.

Classic examples...Colin Calderwood and Paul Trollope at Norwich. It is of course possible to fall out of the loop altogether, but if you play the game there should always be something for you, if you haven't made enough not to work again. I daresay Andy King is still doing something for somebody, if his health is up to it.

I'll take you at you're word on this Chris....not sure anyone else will.

Knew it... Kingy was a master at the networking needed to keep employed + he could sometimes spot a player, although often not.

My one abiding memory of Andy King was him insisting on changing the team formation about 4 times a game in a vain attempt to look like he knew what he was doing.

Saying that, some of the football in that PO season was brilliant.

Worked miracles with us for a few years.

King was a deeply flawed genius.

Was looking at YT videos of old Swindon games and stumbled across the PO semi's against Brighton, we absolutely battered them in both legs.

Convinced if we got to the final we would've beaten City that season.

It would've been an unbelievable feat with the budget we had back then.

I've not watched any footage since that game.

...and I never will.
