I appreciate that this does not match the mood of the room but I don't have any particularly strong feelings either way.  Bournemouth are a small, historically lower league club. A wealthy benefactor bought some success and that is just the way of the world now in football.

If STFC are to achieve similar levels of success it will inevitably have to happen the same way.  Unfortunately, no one of any substance appears to be interested in the club.

There’s a lot of substance to Power.

Unfortunately, it’s based on Guinness and pork pies.

Be interesting to see how Bournemouth will do in the Championship.

Do they downscale and rebuild at that level  for sustainability or do they use the parachute money to have another go at the Prem?

The Championship has moved on a lot in the last 5 years since they were last there with clubs chucking big money at it without parachute money.

Bournemouth had already cut back on ground redevelopment and their training ground to put all money into PL wages. Might be time to pull up the drawbridge financially or the collection buckets might need dusting off soon.

I just cant stand him and that fucking club

that doesnt mean he is a fraud though. he has done exceptional. regardless of money. he didnt fix the defence from last season and had big injuries up top this season. not a good mix.
suprsised there isnt more anger towards ryan Fraser as well. out of contract and refused to play after the restart.

I hate bournemouth for taking Ritchie. but even if we took £1.5m instead of .5m it wouldnt have made much difference to the club.

The strange bitterness towards Bournemouth and Howe is a TEF tradition.

I’ve always assumed it’s partly due to them signing Ritchie and just a general jealousy given since our paths last crossed in 2013, they’ve been regulars in the Premier League whereas we have just escaped Div 4 at the third attempt.

Fair fucking play to them, what a few years they have had regardless of how it has gone sour this season.

No ill feeling towards Bournemouth at all.

Can’t help but feeling they took our chance, our spot.
They certainly took our promotion spot to the Championship all those years ago.

Jealous? Absolutely.

So Tans, are you going to put your money where your mouth is brother?  Wink

Also, is no one else putting the easy sum together of;

Dyche looking to leave Burnley >>
Howe leaves Bourne Mouth >>
Howe unveiled as manager of Burnley (in due course)

Think some forget he did manage them previously, albeit not long.

Yeah and that's fair enough. I think a lot of the righteous anger from Town fans is actually just simple jealousy if they'd only be prepared to admit it.

Didn’t he leave due to being homesick? I can’t see him going up north.

And it wasn't a great success for either him or Burnley which is why I think most people are disregarding that easy link. I think he's knackered and he'll want to take some time off tbh

Absolutely, pure jealousy

There is no logical reason to be pissed off with them for taking Ritchie, as documented time and time again the money saved the club. Roles reversed I’d expect us to do the same to another club and take advantage with a cut price bargain signing.

I find the hatred very odd but then again everyone hates some team for odd reasons

Surely too short a spell to truly judge though? I know football is a fickle game (fans/players/managers/owners etc). No doubt he will take some time out. Without including Burnley (and Portsmouth playing), he's had a good 27 years at the same club. 12 of them as manager.

It could be a case of he doesn't know anything else (not management wise just "homeboy" wise, bar the other short forays). Does this mean he can't settle anywhere else? Or maybe he is just uber loyal (a football rarity, and in life now). Potentially the next club he goes to, I would imagine that he would want to stay with them long term?

Now, if he does take a year out...and this is tedious (whenever isn't it) but let's say Wellens gets Town promoted and larger club comes knocking with compensation to boot. Despite what some think of him (I don't particularly like him (even though it is only based on TV interviews) but I do think he is a decent manager), would Howe be interested in a "Championship playing STFC" role as part of a new project? We'd certainly be attractive at that point but I do get that there are millions of variables/imponderables that could happen in the course of a year. As I'm sure many of us would be happy to be playing football but there is also no harm in thinking forward and potential aspirations. It is the way our club should be aspiring to become a sustained Championship (Div 2) club.

It will be interesting to see where he goes next but my initial thought did jump to Burnley based on Dyche wanting out. Timing and all that.
