Seems very similar to Wellens in some ways, tarnished by a stint at the managerial graveyard in Oldham but generally well regarded as a potential future decent manager.

Barrow's chairman seems a pretty smart cookie by all accounts, we can only dream of the relationship between fans and the club.

Much easier to have a relationship when you're trying to right a 50 year injustice, in non league and things are going well. Lets see when the expectations are raised and money needs to be spent in larger amounts.

John McGreal leaves Colchester.
Apparently he was on huge wages according to that Nixon bloke and Colchester had a top 3 budget and that was unsustainable after their fairly rich owner tried to bankroll promotion which obviously failed.

I see big rumours coming out of Trashton Gate that Steven Gerrard is due to be named as the Slavers manager there.

Expensive pointless appointment if it happens, only appointing him because of his name not his managerial skills.

I know a few Gers fans in Scotland and they say they are not fans of him or his style of play but that he has galvanised the club after several years of turmoil and although he would leave with their best wishes they also won't be hugely upset to see him leave.

Graeme Murty before him had a win rate of 60% from 35 games yet was sacked.
Steven Gerrard has a win rate of of 60% from 113 games.

I think any self respecting L1 manager in England could get success at the level of Rangers with their resources and the 50% pick of the talented young Scottish footballers at their disposal pretty much.

Chris Hughton apparently been offered a job elsewhere and is waiting to hear back from shitty as to wether he takes the other job or not.

A funny one, today Lincolns Michael Appleton seems to suddenly heavily linked to the job too! hes done well everywhere he has managed..... Cheesy

Seems a weird search - surely you'd just prioritise proven managers at the top end of Champ.

Give it to Jokanovic and get on with it. The spunk millions and millions on players so just bite the bullet and get in someone proven to compete at that level.

That would be a step backwards surely? Club rivalry aside, whatever we think of the SPL, both Rangers and Celtic are big jobs, after that you'd be looking to go to a Premiership side or possibly the likes of a Leeds, West Ham or Villa in the Championship.

Hughton or Jokanovic would seem ideal "on paper" I agree.

yes with all due respect Rangers is a much bigger pull than Bristol City, surely.

Seems a fairly weak link, has a poor track record, also sounds like the cheap option.

Oof. If Bristol City appoint an England favourite with links to Rangers then they'll be snorting coke from their Union Jack beer mats in the 3 Lions pub for weeks!

Gerrard...City. It makes no sense for any party.

Is he after a new contract at Rangers?

Go from a club that is in the top 2 in the country with a 100% chance of european qualification every season, with an average gate of 50,000 to move to a Championship side, not even going to qualify for the play offs with an average gate of about 20,000 and a playing budget probably considerably less for new players too.
