Slavan Bilic completing the set of league teams starting with "West" by taking charge at the Baggies. Once it all goes wrong there, he'll have a choice of West Allotment Celtic and West Auckland in the Northern League, West Bridgford in the Eastern Midlands Counties League or West Didsbury & Chorlton in the NW Counties League.

West Auckland won the WC in 1909 and 1911.  This was the English version, interrupted by the Great War, before the pesky French got in on the act. The FA didn't dem it worthy of our participation until 1950 and should now do the decent thing and withdraw from Qatar 2022

If they do, then maybe Slavan could step in and save the day by leading West Auckland to World Cup glory as a last-minute English sub entry

I could live with that, not looking forward to the fixture chaos...

Farewell Garry Monk
He does seem to have been incredibly unlucky, in terms of actually he's half decent but keeps getting sacked for basically being the wrong person at the wrong place/time. Brum fans seem largely happy with what he's done there turning the ship round after the disastrous appointment of Cotterill but he's apparently fallen out with the same clueless CEO who appointed Cotterill in the first place.

It was the unsual statement about the style of play I found a bit puzzling.

"The board of directors are hopeful that over time the team can adopt a fresh and modern footballing philosophy,"

Suggesting they didn't like his brand of football, he was linked to bigger jobs than Brum not that long ago too. Would be a handy L1/L2 manager with a few clubs still managerless.

Apparently that was bullshit, just a personal clash with the CEO who's made a series of bad decisions since being installed by the absentee Chinese owner (e.g. Cotterill) but doesn't like having his authority/decisions questioned.

TBF, it is described as an interim appointment. Further Lingy says if it doesn't work out given the difficult circumstances Embers could return to coaching.

Makes more sense if its an interim measure I thought by the post that he had signed a contract as full time manager.

Oreint fans seem to think its a natural progression of coaching staff and seem happy with it even if it turns out it is temporary.
