Whose autobiography,
Powers (Asset Stripping Worthless Assets for Beginners)
Coopers (When it went well it was me and entirely me, when it didn't I had nothing to do with it)
or Williams (Football is not a results game a long as it looks nice - what do you mean games aren't decided on the pass count?)

As an alternative history, I wonder what would have happened if Jed had appointed Ian Wright instead..

I've thought about this, Wrighty does seem a bit clueless, a lot like many of the other pundits who infect matches on the box and radio, but he does get that football isn't just about technique, you need spirit, will to win, and some mastery of the dark arts.

You could imagine that as a gaffer, with a technical coach at his side, he might have been OK. Nevertheless, the fact that he preferred the comfort zone suggests, he wouldn't have been fully commited to the task, and I don't think you can be a half arsed football manager.

Ian Wright hit 79 goals in his first 100 games for Arsenal.
In comparison Thierry Henry scored 48 and Alexis Sanchez 47.

You may be right Reg, and that comfort zone thing wasn't something I'd really thought of tbh. Although I think Neville at Valencia is more an example of the problem I was complaining about - ex-players being slung in at the top end of the game without earning their stripes lower down
This explains what I was trying to say about the dangers of fast-tracking ex-pros:

I'd imagine that seeing his side fail to beat us, probably made him think the Conference a better prospect.

Interesting to see that he has signed 3 decent (reputation wise) unattached players straight away

Makes you realise there are a fair few unattached players floating around out there, I suspect they are all on decent money but we could shop around at the appropriate level?
