I guess when theres a chance of appointing a UEFA Champions League winning manager in Di Matteo then I think I may have overlooked him too TBH.

Tony Barton won the European Cup for Villa in 82 beating Bayern, followed it up by beating Barca in the Super Cup, and was sacked 2 years later....his next job being the Cobblers.

Presumably Deadly Doug Ellis.

I don't know to be honest, my limited recollection of RDM's managerial career is a bit meh and he inherited the Chelsea team that did so well. Managing an already world class Chelsea team is a little different to trying to resurrect a team on its arse in the Championship?

Still have to manage these world class stars though. Chelsea this season and Man Utd under Moyes has proved it doesn't matter how good the players are if they are not managed then forget it

But again managing world class players is not at all like managing Joelyn Lescott and Alan Hutton?

Definetly, my point was more he must have a bit about him to manage that bunch.

RDM, Villa and their new Chinese owner... a mix made in hell (or heaven if you're a bluenose).

You can imagine Adkins' interview was terribly nice, perhaps too nice.

You can imagine Cotterill's interview was dominated by his annoyance that the Football League put 'Bristol City' on the L1 trophy and not 'Steve Cotterill'.
