The Brentford owner comment 'Innovation not investment' was interesting. Supposedly sunk £90m into the club (including new ground I guess) so maybe a change of direction. Is that an Andrew Black like change of direction?

What I find interesting about this article is how it says that the Brentford chairman owns a football Stats & tips company and they want to go down that route for players - so the chairman is hoping that it takes off and in turn increases the value of his company so he can make more £.

But on the flip side if it fails then surely it would devalue his company also.

Is this not a simular way to how Southampton operate though

The fella is going down the "Moneyball" route.

The theory has proven to work in certain sports where player performance can easily be measurable by a wide range of specific stats.  Football is a different beast to these sports, i dont see Moneyball working

Anyone remember a bloke called Kevin Macdonald? Apparently he is the new Chief Cone Gatherer at Villa.

This must have been posted somewhere else and I missed it. I can't be the first surely...

Edit: Just found it in the 'former player thread'...really?? You've got to put that in the 'Hokey Cokey' thread or the 'Luke Williams' thread.

I got all excited there for a couple of minutes (it doesn't take much). I thought I was imparting ground breaking news to the World  Roll Eyes

Thought this may have been a spoof when I read Ronald McDonald say:

It saddens me to say that the club has this evening parted ways with one of the finest managers in our clubs history

You can guarantee if he does that all the Swindon fans who aren't that keen on him will suddenly be convinced hes the best manager we've ever had.

A bit more on the thinking behind what's going on at Brentford
