Why? Sounds like a Wiltshire police decision to use it. Maybe the decision was away only or stay closed, which is within police powers.
Well mainly because we're getting turfed out of our pub. Not that it bothers me, I don't particularly want to share a drinking establishment with a bunch of scummers.

About what? The match, the pubs or the chances of WWIII?
In truth it is never going to be WWIII is it? Oxford will run first chance they get.

The title of the thread could give you an idea.
Oh I know what the thread's about. I started it. I just wondered why one whole thread on Oxford's allocated pub could cause anybody any distress. Nice try at sarcasm though.

So do you admire violence then? Will you wet your pants with excitement if your "boys" come out on top? If you knew anything about this subject you'd know that both clubs have well-renowned firms, and that the lads within them - as opposed to the saddos on football fora - respect each other. Hate each other, but respect each other.

I'm not siding with anyone, it was a private joke between friends which a few people on the forum may or may not get (kind of spoilt it now with your soul-destroyingly boring responses)
I can assure you my lack of giving a fuck stops me from feeling 'inferior'. Surely only a pedantic cunt who's trying way too hard to be intellectual (losing sight of the fact he's on a rival football supporters forum with the sole purpose to wind them up) would say such a thing as 'Surely only people who feel inferior need to say things like "pat yourself on the back for being ever the smart-arse won't you".'
But that's the last long thread from me, I'll let you respond with something witty (as I'm sure you will, there seems to be a part of you which gets off on it) and let someone else take over.
I really don't think "pedantic" was the correct word to use in this situation. "Nit-picky" would have worked better.

Yep. "Nit-picky" cunt I'm quite happy with. "Pedantic" was just plain insulting.

No not sad challenging yes but not sad I can understand you joining this site as it is more interesting then other sites including is it Yellow Forum which looking through some of the threads is very sad What i can not understand i have the impression having worked in the past with some oxford supporters who all seem to come from Abingdon and Didcot. That if Oxford beat Swindon that this is the highlight of the season even if we then gain promotion and you do not

Actually the Malt and Hops before Merlin. Going back into the 60's, it was well run down and seedy, then named after a battleship of the fleet... Oxford Castle. You know the sort of thing....naval theme pub...pics of battleships, anchors...those wheel things for steering, sure they've a proper name. These sort of places were quite common at the time if a little bizarre, many miles inland. Former tars used to be common landlords, they got out the navy early with a bit of a lump sum, need something to do...and with a history of " splicing the mainbrace" a pub would do.

Make no bones about it, we would absolutely love to beat you lot. It means alot to us. We're Oxford, not Man United, and we don't get the glories or PRemier LEague titles and European excursions. As such everything becomes relative and beating you lot is something we can cherish, and the atmosphere is always electric. But if i set up a poll on the yellows forum, Promotion or beating you lot......promotion would win with ease. That goes without saying. Don't take a few words from some tribalistic enclaves out of context. I imagine the resylts would reflect the same proportions as a similar poll may see on this site.
