The club would be stupid to open bar 71 that day.

And theres no pubs within a five mile radius of the kassam for away fans anyway

One of the key points argued when talk of moving out of Town is considered, is loss to the local economy, it's good that plenty of O*ford fans are coming...Town centre needs the money.

O*ford's ground is stuck out in the arse end of nowhere, precisely because the city doesn't want it in the centre.

Crewe fan in peace here. Me and me mate are getting into Swindon about midday and were wondering where the best pub to drink at that will: allow away fans wearing colours, has sky sports, has decent beer? any suggestions?

The previously mentioned Merlin will be fine.

Usually allows anyone in, will have sky sports on and the usual selection of beers.

In peace? Goddamnit, at least come back and moan about the ticket prices.

So the usual became a not possible for the Oxford match - that is a joke - why should Oxford have any pub at all? They have their own bar in the ground!!

How can the police have the power to decide something like that anyway? Surely the landlord has the final say?

The Merlin used to be called 'The Oxford' after all. Never Been a fan. Tap and Barrell for me, but I can't see them opening it on the morning of the derby.

Its not.

The Merlin has technically always been an away fans pub.  The only reason this hasn't really been monitored to date is that we have few fixtures as high profile as Oxford.

It used to be a Morrell's pub, hence the 'Oxford'.  I understand why people go there, given how close it is to the ground.  But there are much better pubs if you're prepared to walk a little further.

I know a girl who works in the Merlin. They have been asked by the police to be an Oxford pub for the day.

Apparently they are, I asked on Saturday - but it will be the 'regulars knock on the side door' set up.
