Yday my housemate bought a new laptop for 900 notes. Tonight I accidentally dropped some cider over it and it has got inside the screen.

1) Should water be able to get in the screen?

2) It is spreading up the screen. Is there any chance everything will be alright once it evaporates (if it evaporates?)?

3) As long as nothing else is fucked, presumably, the screen will have to come off, be cleaned and a new one put on? Cost?

4) It's not insured. Is there a policy that can cover this and then he can claim retrospectively?

Check if it might be covered under the normal contents insurance for the property.

If he paid for it on a credit card it will be covered against accidents for 90 days - if he didn't then get him to buy an exact replacement on the credit and then claim for it as though it was the  replacement that got damaged... ;-)

dont think hes got a credit card. hes taking it back to his parents, saying it was done there and hoping to claim it on their insurance somehow. cant do it on the contents insurance at our place because neither of us are registered tenants... worth a shot in the dark.
