Do you know Sammy Coburn?

Played for years with Sam...

He played right up until he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2001, passed away in early 2002 he was in his fifties... still excellent at heading.

He called me to say he couldnt play again (i was manager at the time) i didnt know what hurt him most...the cancer or not playing...

Hmmmm..proper hard core fan then...Hmmm

I couldn't give a fuck about being hardcore tbh. I've got better things to do than spunk my money away going to some shit-hole. Doesn't make me any less of a fan.

Those who devote their life to 'doing the 92' are only slightly better than train spotters in my book

It does make you less of a fan. But I see your point.

Of course it fucking does. If that attitude doesn't make you less of a fan, I don't know what does. (Forget about the 92, that's got nothing to do with it.)

You used the words 'less of a fan' in the first place.

Like I said earlier, it's not a contest. What does 'less of a fan' even mean?? Do I support the team any less when I go to games? No.

It's just bullshit one-upmanship which is rife within our fanbase

Fair play, I did. But as no-ones contradicted it, I'm safe to assume no-one disagrees with the title.

If a fan goes to ten away matches in a season..and you go to none personally i would say the fan going to the away matches is a better fan than you.
Now thats not to say you know less, are less of a human being....just that you are less of a fan in my eyes, its not a sin of course and me telling you how i feel is not one upmanship, just a fact.

There was no one-upmanship until you piped up. It was just a discussion about visiting football grounds.

And does following the club everywhere make somebody more of a fan? Of course it fucking does!

Fair points, i've probably got a bit angry over nothing. Apologies all round.

92'ers still need to be approached with caution though.
