Science is just trying to do its best.

But it does put planes in the sky, man on the moon, makes cars work and keeps cheese cold.

There is good science and bad science.

Bad science is when you ignore evidence in order to come to the outcome you want. Such as tabacco companies funding research on the effects of smoking.

Thank Fuck for science!

I love science, although like most things i'd find it a lot more interesting if i didn't have to learn lots about it and then get examined on it!

Having spent 16 years in the Research Councils, good and bad. Genetic modification worries me but finding a cure for cancer can only be a good thing.

I agree with Spencer - science is generally good but like in any other field there are self-serving rogues who use it wrongly and  turn it bad.

As others have said, there are two sides to it.

BR has pointed out some great advantages... and you can't overlook the fact that scientific research has brought about revolutionary farming techniques, sophisticated medicine and medicinal practices and much much more.

Unfortunately, it also brought us things like guns and the atomic bomb.

The key to 'good science' is how you finance, direct and regulate research - something that I don't think we'd ever get right, even outside of a capitalist world system.
