You see, I'll even argue against him and he is not here ;-)

Reg is very quick to go pick something from the distant past, likely even have it ready knowing he is sparking said argument, and then present it as evidence against a person.  He did it quite a bit to PV for example.  I think if you take that style, you have to expect some prickly responses.

I'd like a good debate with the chap - I'm honestly not sure if he is contrary for the sake of it or really does argue the positions he does at times, but it makes it interesting.

I could be wrong, I think this forum serves a certain purpose for him, and during the current Covid inspired period it's just not floating his boat.  He said as much on his brief return after the initial lockdowns.

I think we can all agree that my extended debate with him over why Port Vale was not, in fact, the smallest-town club in the league, either now or at its creation, will remain a highlight of the TEF when the records are compiled.

Different perspective or deliberately contrary? I think in the last couple of years I would go with the latter and he was getting steadily worse. I even had to put him on Ignore at one point, which I hate doing...he reminded me of this...



Edit: It goes without saying that I wish him well. I've said before that I'm sure I would enjoy his company if we were ever to meet...

Reg was often fishing for bites - he got bites. I have no sympathy for him in that regard.

It's a shame because he was alright when discussing other stuff and got involved with the non-football threads often. He had quite a lot of interesting stuff to contribute but he just seemed to like getting under peoples' skin and knew how to do so.
