what a cracking climax that was.
thought tiger would romp it(no pun intended) but didn't go on from his awesome front 9 really.
rory's disaster was painful to watch and i really felt for the lad.shows he isn't quite there yet mentally to win a major as the mistakes he made were awful.

Yeah McIlroy's 10th-14th holes were cringeworthy to watch. Seemed to cope well after though and fair play to him for not shirking interviews and trying to put a positive spin on it. Sure he'll have plenty more chances in majors.

Great effort from Schwartzel, has been playing some lovely golf for a couple of years now, makes very few mistakes.

Birdie the last 4 holes at Augusta and you fully deserve your green jacket.

If there is a more beautiful venue than Augusta National in sports then I haven’t seen it. Shame about the club itself really, I read that a female journalist wasn’t allowed in the clubhouse to conduct interviews and I still believe they haven’t inducted Tiger Woods as member unlike all the other winners.

You have to hand it to Schwartzel even if his eagle on the 3rd was a total fluke and there was an element of that with the chip in on the 1st. In saying that if you are in contention for a major and you birdie the final 4 holes then you deserve the victory.

I actually predicted the Mcllroy collapse, although not to that extent, it is starting to become a little bit of a trend. I can see why people are saying that it will make him stronger and his time will come and that will probably be the case. However people were saying exactly the same thing about Garcia at that age when he got out duelled by Woods in the final round of the 1999 USPGA and at this moment in time you would get decent odds on him ever winning a major. So much of golf is about what goes on in your head, a lot of average golfers have won a major due to being able to get in contention and keep their head while other more talented players crack under the pressure. Prime example is Monty he had the game and certainly had the chance to take a couple of majors but it just became a mental issue in the end, I fear the Lee Westwood could suffer the same fate.

You're right about it becoming a trend, saw this crazy stat shown last night - In 3 of the last 4 majors the 54-hole leader has gone into the final round with a 3 or more shot lead, and then failed to break 80.

There must be something about the South African mentality that is suited to golf, they seem very relaxed and don’t seem to get flustered.  Els and Goosen won their share of majors and you will struggle find more clam and composed players than them.  Louis Oust… whatever his name is at the Open had pressure on him but it didn’t affect him at all.

I think the fact Schwartzel is the best putter in the game might have had something to do with it mate...
