Good stuff, well worth checking out live too.

How the feck PJ Harvey won the Mercury (2nd time) over him and James Blake I don't know. I don't get PJ Harvey at all. Saw her live at Ally Pally this summer (I went to see other acts on the same bill) and left to sit in the park pretty soon after she began.

would be a bit dull if we all had same tastes (I hear some people even like Oxford; guess it takes all sorts  Smiley )

I think the PJH album is great (and her first Mercury winner even better).

I saw Ghostpoet at a festival (he was playing to about 50 of us in the rain) and was impressed but also saw James Blake and just didn't get him at all - his best was a Feist cover, which was a good song anyway - but I was definitely in the minority so concluded that some things just pass me by.

I don't mind listening to James Blake as background music, or if travelling. If i was to see him live though I imagine I would get very bored very quickly

James Blake opened the main stage at Big Chill this year, he was the only act that played on Thursday, at about 8pm. He was brilliant, a great act to open the festival. The first time I heard his album I didn't get it one bit, then saw some live footage and was blown away. He fannied about with the production too much on the album recording, doing it live doesn't give him as much leeway to tinkle and it sounds much better.

It is a bit different but it still holds up well to the others IMO
