Looking for recommendations for a new phone.

The iPhone contract's up and I'm going to get rid of it. For reasons I won't bore you with, I'm changing to PAYG instead of pay monthly.

I quite fancy an Android phone and will mostly be using it for phoning and texting (obviously) along with email, music and internet browsing. Wifi's a must.

Looking to spend around £300ish. HTC's look quite nice, are they any good? I want something that's going to hold it's value a bit incase I get bored with it after a few months and can then flog it.

Are you buying new?

Android seems the obvious choice if you really want to get rid of the iPhone but still want a touch screen.

Yeah, I'll probably be buying new. Not sure if I trust second hand.

Yeah I had a look around and there doesn't seem to be an awful lot for £300 or less. The Wildfire may be a good shout if you want an HTC and is well within budget. The only problem with manufacturers like HTC seems to be waiting for updates of the OS.

No temptation to keep the iPhone on PAYG?

Nah, had enough of the iPhone now.

Considering the Samsung Galaxy S. Although there are some HTC Desire's on eBay for just shy of £300 which claim to be new.

If you can get a galaxy s for 300 quid go for it. Feel and look a bit cheaper than others but has a good spec

My only concern with the Galaxy S is that the battery life is horrific. Nice phone (with the exception of TouchWiz), but it struggles to last a working day with a few widgets and some moderate browsing/push email.

I'm due a new phone however i'm going to get a sim only month to month deal until better phones come out. Apparently the Samsung Galaxy S2 is due out in Q1 and the specs look good for it. It will have the latest version on Android, a 4.3 inch screen and a 1.2ghz processor so will be insanly quick. Worth thinking about.

Any recommendations on a new smartphone? Mainly used for social networks, and a few apps such as Yell, Redlaser, RAC. Currently got a 3g, should I go for the iphone 4?

Any phone recommendations? HTC?

I love my X10, but the consensus on here that the Desire HD is a quality bit of kit and is well supported
