Right, my iphone 3g is on its way out as I've dropped it numerous times.

I'm on payg, and am looking at the iphone 4. Any recommendations on tarriff? I see you can get the phone on orange for £119 with a £35pm for 24 months. 400 mins, unlimited texts, 750mb data which will suit me just fine. Are Orange any good? I'm currently with O2 and find them superb for coverage...

Get the 3g on ebay. My 3yr old o2 one went (to Huddersfield..) for £219 last week. Might help if you need to pay a lump up front for the new one to get a lower p/m tarriff.

The screen on the iPhone 4 is ridiculously good, get one of those.

I'm on Orange. Don't know about coverage in your area, in general it's good. But lately they have improved the signal by sharing reception with T-Mobile. For years I've had shite reception at home, but it's much improved now. If your phone drops out of signal or down to 1 bar with Orange, it scouts (automatically) for T-Mobile signal and more often than not finds it.

Carphone warehouse gave me over 150 quid back for my iphone 3G so make sure you get the cash back as that will go some way toward a new phone whatever you get (thats not actually committing to taking out a new contract or anything with them either).

I love the iphone 4 personally

What mine currently?

It's def 24 months... That I can remember with 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb browsing.

Not sure if I paid for the phone or not though, I'll check! But I personally wouldn't go with anyone other than o2. Literally took seconds to transfer number across too!

I did pay for the phone but not the 139 stated on O2s website.

With the cash back though, it more than paid for it!

Orange have been fine for me. I transferred from o2 and it was no hassle to transfer my number over.

And obviously go straight to the o2 retentions dept, not sales. They'll check the points system that shows your loyalty scoring wotnot for the best price they can offer to keep you. I think.

Think I'll pop into the o2 shop and see what they can do. If I can play the two companies off against each other that would be cool...

There is a half decent tariff with Tesco, if you like changing your phone regularly and don't mind paying more up front.

The iPhone 4 32Gb is £299 on a 12 month tariff at £35 (750 minutes and 1Gb data I think). Cheaper for the 16Gb. They have a 24 month unlimitted minutes tariff as well, I think - with a cheaper upfront payment.

You should get most of the upfront payment back after 12 months if you sell it on eBay. Tesco uses the O2 network.
