Another good question is why he's asking the "experts" on this forum and most likely being told a pile of bollocks, rather than calling Apple or Vodafone and getting the correct advice.

The EU are challenging the 1 year warranty anyway... says it should cover for a slong as youc an reasonably expect the product to last.  It's a similar argument they made against car manufacturers which is why you're seeing 5+ yrs warranty becoming the standard rather than the exception.

UK law already says that.

If you were to take Apple to court (small claims) to challenge their 12 month warranty for iPhone's (or any of their products) you'd have a very good chance of winning as they are expensive high end products which should last longer than 12 months.
