Obviously I own a Desire and love it but I'll try to give you some things to think about rather than say one is better than the other (mega post alert):

If you want it to replace an mp3 player then as Johnny says a bigger memory card for the Desire will cost you so factor that in. But even with that the Desire is great value for money.

The Desire uses the Android operating system but has HTC's 'Sense' user interface to make it look pretty and ting. The Desire interface is pretty slick in my opinion, but there are more options to play around with which may make it harder for some people to use. I've googled the occasional thing to find out how to do it, but that's been more for things like push settings for email accounts.

Also I have loads of sexy widgets all over the place on my homescreens. Great for things like quickly viewing the next few Swindon fixtures at a glance or changing settings very quickly. I have no idea if you can do this on an iPhone or whether it's important to you.

If touch web browsing is your thing, I honestly don't think there is much between the phones. You do get flash player with Android though, which is ace if you want to watch pornhub on your mobile. Oh and you can turn off 'show mobile versions of websites' so you can get the full site up no problem. The TEF works great on it which is really the most important thing.

Android's greatest downfall is the market. It's improved massively in the past few months and I think it will continue that way. The big players have come on board, you have official apps for most things now. I've yet to not find an app which does what I want and I've never had to pay for an app either. Obviously you get the best out of the google apps too, turn-by-turn navigation is built in through free google maps etc. But the market is not as extensive or developed as Apple's.

As Android phones are all different, it's harder to optimize games. Therefore if mobile gaming is the be all and end all then an iPhone is probably for you. The games on the Android market aren't shit, but iPhone has a bigger selection and better ones.

The best part of Android (for me) is that you don't have to plug it into your pc to sync it at all. I even transfer files to and from my pc using wi-fi now.

Best advice is to find recent reviews/tests/walkthroughs of each on youtube. You can then decide if the iPhone's interface is going to be worth the extra dough.

Pornhub works fine on my iPhone, as do the vast majority of the decent websites.

I dont own a mobile anymore, its great though almost impossible to have any mates.ive not seen anyone for months.

I prefered it before mobiles, when you'd go out and hope you'd bump into someone and almost always did..

Yeah they make iPhone/mobile specific sites. Some sites mobile versions are better, others the full site is.
