Can anyone suggest some decent DVD ripping software?

The key thing is to keep maximum quality and screen size as the ripped version will be played on my TV (some I have tried reduce the screen size so that you can play the ripped version on iPods etc).

I don't mind paying for it, but free would be good!

DVD Decrypter to rip it if its encrypted (commercial dvds will be), then DVD shrink if you want to delete/edit menus, audio tracks and subtitles etc.

I haven't tried it for quite a few versions, but won't VLC stream to a file now?

It used to be a full on command line jobby, and didn't do it very well anyway, but I'd heard it's improved now.
