I always thought Britpop was the alternative rock/indie movement throughout the 90's, so the likes of Oasis, Blur AND Pulp.

Arctic Monkeys and The Libertines are more recent indie rock, that is to say this decade or the one just passed (depends how you look at it).

Both genres feature prominantly on my iPod though, better than the computerised rubbish they call R'n'B.
