Point is he's class and has shit loads of experience at closing games out, unfortunately that is where we have stuggled in tournaments gone by.

Yep. Excellent player in his prime, but that ended approx 5 years ago.  He's still far from shit but i dont see how he would fit into the current england team anyway. He's not a DM and at this moment in time is clearly not better that gerrard or lampard.

I would say he's had a better season than Gerrard

He's slightly past his prime but he could've played an important part in our campaign, just like he does for Man Utd. I'd have him in the squad instead of the massively-overrrated Carrick any day of the week.

I think Sven wasted too much time hoping Owen would stay fit.

Scholes could have played the one off front man, like Beardsley. Instead of left midfield.
