Which doesn't stop it being naive, simplistic and stupid
And the fact that every single one of his posts has the same negative undertones even before this Greer situation

well i think studs has been well and truly put in his place. although i disagree with him i can see what he means.he wants to see some big money signings.plenty of fans think that way
But surely people must be able to see that Prutton is a 'big money' signing? No, we didn't pay a transfer fee but he wouldn't have come cheaply in terms of wages. It's a hell of an outlay from our 'take take take' Board.

Yeah, didn't think you were. And you're right, people do do that and some will judge our likely chances on the back of it. But they tend to be the really clueless muppets who have no idea how lower league football works. Like most newspaper pundits, for a start

Yeah just saw that. Says the fee has been agreed this weekend so perhaps the £250k could be wide of the mark??

100% agree. I think for transparency reasons all transfers should be disclosed in full including agent's fees.

What would be people's views if he did? Or if he failed to agree terms? Could he ever stay on or have those bridges been burnt?

I don't. Clearly we don't want to be stuck with someone who doesn't want to play for us.

He's agree terms with Brighton though, so wont it be their problem?

Verbally agreed probably. You don't sign on the dotted line unless you pass your medical.

The more I think about this the more I think this could be a blessing in disguise. When you look at the stats our defence was only the 9 or 10th best in the league when you look at the goals conceded (57 last season). If we had kept Greer it is likely the defensive line up would be largely the same next season as there wouldn't have been much reason to change it. We now have the opportunity to find a new centre back which we may not have had previously and if we find the right man and say knock 10 or 15 off the against column next season then we could come out of this massively better off. Yes it could work in reverse and the defence ends up worst but there is definitely an opportunity for Wilson now.

Too many assumptions there Glos. The biggest is whether we are definitely getting a replacement. Given the Morrison "gee up" in the Adver I assume we wont be, unless he doesn't perform early season then we may get a loan in.
