i think the money offered for greer if around £200-250,000 is fair for him.

that said, i dont want him to go as he is a great skipper and fine centre half.

for what he brings to the back line and team in general i think £250k for him would be an insult personally.

yes he gives away silly free kicks etc but is always 100% comited and organises the defence supurbly.

I think it should lie a little bit deeper than just the individual. Greer has his faults - he can be a bit sluggish, gives away silly free kicks and makes the odd mistake. However, his worth to the team is more than just about him as an individual. The whole back line looks more assured with him in there and you should avoid breaking up a good centre back partnership if you can (like a good strike partnership, Paynter/Austin ya de ya de ya da). He makes a good captain in my opinion.

Merely on him as an individual player, I think we could find someone just as good if not better with the money received. However, you have to think about the team as a whole.

Dave is right also, if he does want to stay sign him up for another couple of years.

totally agree.  Whilst he was superb last season JPM for example would be easier to replace than greer. As we wouldnt neceesarily need to go for a similar type of player (ie the beckham type right winger) there would be a much larger number of options availble with £x to spend on a replacement.

(Just an example, I'm not advocating selling McGovern)

why would you want to sell JPM. he was one of our better players last season and if he continues again this season he could prove pivotal in our bid for promotion.

I'd say JPM was one of our least replacable players! Meh, what do I know.

Greer was a major player for us last season.

Last season we did well.

We shouldn't even be thinking about selling any of our major players from last season.

That's stupid. I'd let him go for £300k.

Selling your best players to divisional rivals is stupid.
