In contrast I tried putting a pair of trousers on today and I couldn't do them up. So I will be going shopping at the weekend. Sigh.

Although finding out BT Infinity is now available makes me happy. Did it take long for the engineer to get out to you to install it? (do you need an engineer)?

I ordered on the 5th, the new hub arrived on the 8th and the engineer came out on the 12th.

The engineer has to disconnect your line from the old cabinet and reconnect it to one of the new fibre cabinets (they're the big shiny green ones that have been popping up around West Swindon). The total install can take from 2 to 4 hours. Openreach will also bring and install a VDSL modem on the day.

A bonus for me was that it doesn't cost me any more per month than my old 8mb connection did, although I do now have a 40gb monthly download limit but that's plenty for me.

I've had a look at the prices and we can get the unlimited option for £1 more a month then our current package. Downside is an 18month contract, but I only ever had monthly contracts before to enable quick switching of ISPs when their connections become unreliable.

At least it will be the fastest broadband available which isn't Virgin, so being tied into a longer contract isn't so much a worry.

According to the engineer who installed ours, we were the first to 'go live' on our cabinet, so contention isn't an issue at the moment Smiley
