I fear for all the Champagne drinkers who frequent 'Spoons, where are they going to get a glasss at 0900 each day (and a fight by mid day!)

Note the man child has been very quiet regarding Prosecco....

TBF don't think I've ever seen anyone drink champagne in a Wetherspoons before.

"Champagne will be swapped for Denbies Sparkling Whitedowns Brut and Whitedowns Rose Brut as well as Hardys Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay from Australia"

French & German wheat beers also to be replaced by UK ones.

Keep calm and carry on drinking I guess.  Smiley

Champagne is overrated.

To me its a celebration drink, or for others to show off in a dick waving contest (not literal).

As the old dear in the Lidl ad said, ‘i like gin’ and in that vein I do like champagne, and red wine and real ale and gin and dark rum and single malt whisky. Trouble with shampoo is that from my perspective there has been an awful lot of shit sold at high prices. Now the Aussies, Spainish and Italians have said ‘i’ll have a slice of that market thank you’ and they have. There are some decent English sparkling wine about to but a tad expensive. As for spoons ditching it, well it’s his business. He can make a statement if he wants, as others have said I doubt the 09.00 crowd will miss it.

It's not actually, it's publicly listed, so it's owned by the shareholders. He may be the major shareholder, but it's not "his" to do with as he wishes. As chairman he has legal responsibilities to all shareholders

I cannot, for one second, believe that anyone, ever, purchased a glass of Champagne from a Wetherspoons.

Hence why the man child can make a big deal about this whilst actually knowing that it will not remotely touch his bottom line, you will note he has made no mention of Prosecco which I imagine is quite heavily consumed in such premises and there is a fudge about a well known Swedish cider...

Don’t miss out!

Elon Musk - he of the electric car - has just released for sale a flamethrower at a very affordable $500.

Just in time for Father’s Day
