Wayne Rooney's third goal tonight on MOTD brought a smile to my lips, as did Mohamed Salah's first against Stoke.
Open goal, hit and hope.. meh. (Rooneys)

The fact he chipped the ball into an empty net from 60 yards is not extraordinary in any way. He'd do that 99/100.

It was just pure luck/coincidence the chance presented itself. A rare goal, yes... but a brilliant goal? No.

agree with that PP.

it's not the same as when Beckham spotted Sullivan off his line for example

No definately a different finish, good connection and strike by Rooney thats obvious but any professional player worth his salt should hit an empty net from 50 yards TBH.

No at least Beckham was facing a decent keeper, whereas Rooney was against Joe Hart.

Haven't seen the  Rooney goal, but don't suppose we'll hear the last of it. However Olly Lee's goal in Div 4, for Luton v Cambridge was special, couple of weeks back, but as it was in Div 4 will be ignored.

That is 10 times better than Rooneys TBF to him, great strike.

Is it fuck better than Rooneys. Hitting like that first time with the ball rolling towards you is much more difficult.

I disagree with that. Always found that the easiest to do.

I challenge anyone to read this bollocks and not snigger at least 5 times...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42181073

Favourites include....

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said she hoped Mrs May's criticism "would have some impact on the president". - This being after he has already told May (not the correct one initially) to fuck off and mind her own business via Twitter.  Hmmm

She urged critics of the president to remember the importance of the transatlantic alliance to Britain, saying intelligence sharing between the two countries had "undoubtedly saved British lives". - Haven't we reduced the intelligence we share as he cannot keep his mouth shut, plus I suspect Brendan Cox probably doesn't agree.

She said the UK government would "not tolerate any groups who spread hate by demonising those of other faiths or ethnicities". - Does this mean the government won't tolerate the Tory Party....

In hitting out at Mrs May, Mr Trump first tagged the wrong Twitter account, sending his statement to a different user with just six followers. He then deleted the tweet and posted it again, this time directing the message to the UK PM's official account. - Bright ain't he, just remember he also has his fingers on the nuclear button.  Girl Giggle

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said on Wednesday that Mrs May and other world leaders knew that "these are real threats that we have to talk about".

"Whether it's a real video, the threat is real," she said. - Not sure if she is referring to right wing extremism or the content of the videos which have all been retweeted out of context, however whichever it rather contradicts his recent comments about fake news, as fake news apparently doesn't matter if it supports his skewed views.

Meanwhile, Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah said that Mrs May was "one of the great world leaders", adding that he had "incredible love and respect for her". - Probably the ultimate Lolz moment.

I hope that he does come over as with the crap storm of Brexit his visit might be sorely needed to bring the people of the UK together, although as the subject of multiple offence allegations will he even get a visa?

The Ann Coulter audio snippet is revealing - that is how the rabid bunch that have somehow  changed the course of USA politics think and feel everyday.  Someone born as a citizen of a country, but to a migrant parent, is fair game in a debate about immigration - even though that wasn't even the debate anyway.

What you have to give Trump and these odd mix of far right and left combined Nationalists credit for is how they figured out they could tap into the extremities of politics and engage a group otherwise disenfranchised, while holding the safe more centrists/right wing States/votes.  What they stand for is at times at complete loggerheads with the Republican/Conservative view, but one or two crumbs enable them  to retain their vote, they then peddle this strange combination of White, mainly Catholic, severe Nationalistic (in trade and foreign policy terms) rhetoric, playing at the far margins.  It'd odd, because these voters would either not vote before, or would probably vote democrat as they are against big business, against free trade, would happily be in a Union etc.  It's a unique approach because you are essentially trying, and succeeding, in attracting the far extremes and hoping you still retain a bit of the middle on one side as well.  To achieve it, you have to peddle fear.

Trumps comments on the UK are a good example.  nobody is going to combat him with a debate on which country has had most deaths, it's not dignified and isn't usual politics.  Surely you don't go on TV and tell a reporter, "well, he should look at his own country and answer why so many people have been killed in terrorist attacks and mass shooting in the past three months - I mean, he must e causing more deaths than we are".  So he can freely, without come back, claim utter rubbish to inflame the fear - Europe is over run with Muslins (at less than 5% of population), that the UK is awash with terrorist attack killing everyone (despite the fact that during the 70's through the 90's we probably had far more instances of terrorism related to Christianity & internal politics).  It really needs a sacrificial lamb to take this on - someone willing to forego a career in politics to essentially just play the opposite side and attack him over and over again.  There is a guy currently running TV Ad's against him, but he is playing nice, you need to play dirty and unravel the claims.  You need to drag the guy through court and spend a fortune, he is merely a front for a "movement", you need to tackle them all knowing you'll alienate yourself, paving the way for someone else to come in and clean up the mess.
