I'm undecided. When the ECB proposed 20/20 cricket I thought it would bomb.... can't get it all right. Bristol could very easily be a Franchise. Lansdown, would probably stump up the money.... Bristol Slave Traders has a certain ring, although judging by the way Edward Colston is being PC airbrushed from their history, perhaps something else wil be picked. I would then imagine the deal would be that players from say Somerset, Glos and Glamorgan, would be used by the Franchise augmented by 4 from overseas. When I was in The Parks earlier in the spring for matches v Surrey and Warwickshire, the traditionalists were grumbling, but I think it's an effort to find a new audience.... get families, more kids etc. Traditional members will still have the county circuit. The key would seem to be getting some matches onto terrestrial TV, and getting some top notch dancing girls like in the IPL.

Randomly had a Swindon fan start in my office in Reading today. I have a feeling we'll spend the next 12 months thoroughly depressed together.

My train from Westbury to Plymouth used to get cancelled/massively delayed all the time (over a decade ago). I used to just listen to music, read a book and wait for the next one. Print that, Adver.

You must have missed the bit that said they "didn't want to". DONE YOU THERE. Poor souls.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39803723Bloody Mickey Mouse club.... Seriously, if he ran Pompey as a business anything like the way Disney runs, they'll be Champions League in a decade. Whatever you feel about the whole Disney ethic, the attention to detail is frightening - employing people to walk around after every parade noting which light bulbs have failed that day, for example.

As a previous cynic, I have to admit, on reading several books on the company, they are relentless which is why Disneyland Paris often stands out because it has been run on license and generally gets worse reviews.

I was looking at it from a customer service point of view really. How they manage, every night, to handle 50,000 people leaving the Magic Kingdom at pretty well the same time without chaos, how they make queuing fun for kids, how they respond if something goes wrong.
We were told they have weather forecasts for each area of the Florida site so when it rains, which it does, they have ponchos at the ready (at a price, true) for the punters, and switch the rides on/off as lightning approaches to minimise down time.
I am a fan, obviously. As to his business acumen, that's so far above my knowledge I can't comment, other than funding / supporting / losing money on Pompey looks like loose change to him I suspect.
