Cauldron Sausages are better.  Decent.

I was in Hackney the other day and went to the hipsters choice the temple of seitan

http://www.facebook.com/templeofseitan/

Its a vegan fried chicken joint.  Obviously its not chicken.  Its stuff called seitan, formed in to chicken shapes and then fried in southern fried chicken herbs and spices.  Its all right.  Im not a massive fan of things masquerading as meat.  I stopped eating meat a few years ago and don't really see the point in eating stuff thats pretending.

This stuff tasted like chicken but was a bit more rubbery and a bit more herby.  Im not rushing back there.

I expect loads more 'Seitan' places to pop up in the next few years.

Seitan is vile stuff.

On the subject of vegetarianism, I had a meal at Hawksmoor on Saturday night and the steak was absolutely incredible. The beef dripping fries were something else.

Which one? The one in Shoreditch is superb. If you like meat, I would recommend Smokestak as well. Amazing beef brisket.

I also had a lovely fillet in the hippodrome casino on Saturday night and decent price also!

We have a gorgeous Argentinian steak resto in our street which featured on some Gordon Ramsay program a few years back so it's always full which is irritating when we fancy popping along as you have to book.

So I applied for 2 jobs, one in RM, one outside. Haven't heard back from the one out of RM, which wasn't a surprise, it was a massive reach! The one in RM was fairly unique in that because of the job's responsibilities it required an interview, instead of the most senior applicant getting the job regardless. A few folk got cut before the interview itself, 5 people were seen by the manager, I didn't get the job which was a shame but the interviewer told my boss she was impressed with my enthusiasm, and that the choice for the job was between me and the guy who eventually got it, who had prior experience of the role. Disappointed, but pleased to have got so far.

Years ago I'd been interviewed for a public sector job, didn't get it. However maybe a couple of months later got a call from the same place saying we remember you from the interview, this new job has come up and we think it'd suit you, would you like to come in for another interview, no need to apply etc?

Sod's law dictated that the date of the interview, I was with the family staying on the south coast, but drove back to Swindon anyway.

Went well, at the end just one proviso, we're not 100% sure of funding, should know in 4-6 weeks. 5 weeks later got another phone call. Sorry didn't get funding.

Moral of the story, other than don't work in the public sector.... you might be remembered for future posts, you never know.

Had a mixed grill from Sally Pussey's the other day. Whilst its was nice i felt it had the more commercial feel to it as if i was eating in a hungry horse or something.

It's the first time i've eaten there so have nothing to compare it too but i expected something with a bit more finesse.
