They've spent a billionty-seven dollars keeping the thing up to date and in the air... they are dirty great beasts, it'll be odd watching them fly overhead without 8 great black smoke trails when they eventually upgrade the engines again...

The numerous b52s have full US air force backing, cash and lots of spare parts.

the Vulcan is a privately owned plane, the last of its kind. The Vulcan fleet was due to be dispensed of around the time of the Falklands conflict.  They had to beg and borrow parts for the bombing raids on Stanley, mainly for refueling. it's an interesting story really, great PR stunt for the RAF too.

the raf washed it's hands of the Vulcan in the 90s. it's kind of a miracle they got 558 in the air again at all with all the technical and financial challenges.

I saw these 2 progs on BBC 4 a while back Jet! When Britain Ruled The Sky.....brilliant stuff.  I'm sure they'll come around again, but for those who've not seen, here's the first on youtube.

Harvey 'Toad' Denton appears to be living in Devizes.  Smiley

Or at least his double.

I've never really thought to drive a nail through a battery, but now it's been mentioned I'm left wondering what would happen....

The mind boggles.

I used to have a quad bike which was purchased in Canada. It was covered in safety stickers including stickers saying it's against the law to remove the stickers. My favourite was one which said not to store the quad on it's rear end or upside down.

They're probably wondering why some English bellend would hammer a nail into a battery.

Watching the neighbours having a right ding-dong about parking

I love the street we live on but there is one house opposite us that's always having barnies, its never physical (yet) just very loud shouting sometimes in the street. I just keep out of it, and be nosey through the blinds. Last week my sister in law was popping up for a coffee and they were having a ding dong in the street. My SIL asks the lady if shes ok, she says yes so she leaves it at that.
About 15 minutes later, the bint is banging on our door accusing us of calling the police. (we didn't) Luckily my SIL isn't one to back down so just told the bint where to shove it. Hopefully there wont be any repercussions later down the line.
