Ice cubes made at home tend to melt faster when they're in drinks. I don't know why that is.

It's not just size, those of the same size will melt faster/slower depending on how they are made.

I think shop-bought ones are somehow more compact. My guess is that shop-bought ice is made using distilled water. I might get around to experimenting some time. Or I might not.
