Took the dog out for a run this morning, just as Doris was starting to kick in. Kind of expected to have to duck the flying branches etc but we were both a bit surprised to also have to avoid a flying squirrel - it was blown out of its tree across the path in front of us, bounced on the path, into the undergrowth, hit a tree, shook itself off and fucked off up the tree sharpish before the dog could recover his wits sufficiently to chase it up there. So that was a new experience for both of us I think. Probably all 3 of us, although I'm guessing about the squirrel tbh

It could have been an illegal immigrant flying squirrel....

or perhaps a first stage in evolutionary mutation, as an adaption to increased frequency of climate change storms.

I think that's the dog's big worry. He's always regarded chasing squirrels up trees as a harmless pastime, but now they've apparently developed an air force, he's going to have significantly re-evaluate their capacity to retaliate.

I thought it was a harmless past time until my Spaniel punched a squirrel in the face.

Was hilarious to watch mind. He hasn't caught one since.
