Champagne is so overrated. Many that drink it do more so because of the image rather than the actual taste and what not. Pretentious knobs.

Is it like cava ? I've honestly no idea what it is.
I like champagne. Not that I drink it regularly. Do enjoy it when it's on offer though.

Is it me or is prosecco a new drink ? Until quite recently I'd never heard of it and I've never tried it either.

Its because it used to be called Champagne but made outside of the area, so no one can call it champagne unless its from champagne etc etc. It all tastes like someone's farted in window cleaner to me.

Prosecco is ok. But it needs Aperol and soda in it  :gay:

3 bar MAP sensors. Just discovered that there is a bolt on for the Esprit that removes the 2 bar factory boost limit. My poor gearbox and drive shafts...

Cava, Champagne and Prosecco are all the same. Fizzy white wine, the name just changes depending on where it comes from.

Spot on. Cava is from Spain, Champage from France and Prosecco from Italy (Cremant from Luxembourg incidentally).

You are basically paying extra for the champagne name. Prosecco seems to have been marketed very well recently and is a more than adequate champagne replacement at a lower price.

They had a go at English sparkling wine recently but despite winning many awards has never really taken off (and its bloody expensive)

Couldn't be more wrong by saying it all tastes the same. A half-decent champagne will knock spots off pretty much any prosecco. They are some really nice proseccos too, but most of it is cheap tat. It's like comparing a bottle of Hardy's to a decent bottle of wine. Obviously there's an element of pretention to the price but you still get what you pay for.

 Yes

The mistake is in thinking the word champagne is enough to make it better than the rest. Good champagne is better than good prosecco, and I've never tasted a very good cava.

I must confess I have always found Champagne to be every cheesy/musty smelling - even at a money no object wedding I attended in London. Bought Mrs Horlock07 a magnum of Prosecco for Valentines and she seems very happy with it!

Yes, I've tasted some very nice prosecco. "Problem" with a magnum of the fizzy stuff is you have to drink the lot within about an hour...

That is a challenge that she will accept with relish!

Not sure relish would complement champagne particularly well.

I didn't say it tastes the same, I same it was the same thing. IE. fizzy white wine. My preference is Prosecco.
