The 'Men of Steam' on iPlayer.

This programme  is superb. I wholeheartedly recommend watching it even if it's the 100th time you've seen it.

Ha reminds me of having our first. Screams of agony from the room down the corridor, me and the Mrs exchange glances, then the midwife says "that's what happens when you refuse pain relief"

ERM, sorry jfw, I'm sure it'll go fine..

Have an epidural.

This is good advice. Get it in early.

I've been offered one as an alternative to general anaesthetic next week.

Think I may go for it

None of my business Audrey, don't want to know, but good luck with wherever it is you are having as it sounds major.

It's called labour for a reason. Epidurals are given too easily nowadays.

My Mrs had both of ours on gas and air only.
I think they try to steer people away from epidurals as the numbness doesn't help with pushing on contractions.
Can lead to prolonged Labour.

Classic TEF, turning to a discussion about pain relief during childbirth.

To add my two penneth, my wife had just Entonox during the birth of our two - but then again she is superwoman.
