I think the words red and vodka are missing either side of bull..

Would like to do Paris but the family wanted to go = too expensive.

Possibly off to see my dad next year for the first time in about 20 years. He lives near Maastricht, and there is a half near there. Hmmmm.

Definitely putting in for reading  though.

Which one? Was thinking of doing Reading myself.

1 hour, 47 minutes, 26 seconds (chip time). Considering I did the "easier" (flatter) Chippenham Half in 1:52:02 I was delighted, a real 41st birthday present to myself!

Then 3 hours later I was plotting the sub 1hr 45 barrier Smiley Might give the Wiltshire half a go at the end of November actually, not sure sub 1hr 45 is on for that though.

The improvement is addictive. My first two were very similar times to yours, then I went and did 1:36 in Bath and now I'm aiming for sub 90 minutes and it's going to kill me.

Pretty sure 1:36 is a distant dream until I shift more lumber, but addictive it most certainly is!

There must be a point where improvement is very difficult, but I don't think I'm there yet.

It's getting the breathing right that I find hardest. Being 200+ lbs, I prefer cycling  Smiley

You still need to breathe when cycling too Wink

I find with running that concentrating on my breathing means my brains focused on that rather than thinking "oh god, oh god, can I stop yet?".

Away with your excuses. I'm 196lbs (14 st) now! I started with the running when I was 244 lbs!

Probably explains my knackered knees and  dodgy ankles

Ah that's where I've been going wrong. I'd just been getting to the end of the road then keeling over and passing out, wondered why Smiley

How do you get breathing right? I've started running, after zero exercise for years, and I'm struggling like hell. Managing a 3 mile circuit but it doesn't feel great, and that's without my seemingly dodgy left knee, which starts hurting like hell after about 1.5 miles.

After breathing out I find it helpful to breathe back in again and continue in that 'in-out' cycle.

I hope that helps.  Wink
