Seconded. Me and dporter went for a long weekend in December and had a great time. Definitely have a wander round the old town on Gamla Stan, and would also reccomend going to the Skansen open air museum which is right next to the Vasa museum. Lot of examples of olden times sweden and a cracking zoo which the kiddies should enjoy.

Thanks for the tips (and Sonic too).

Only got a couple of days there, should be enough for a few of the main attractions - there a fewer open in Feb! Anyone tried the Skyride?

Former Tory and now UKIP wallah, David Sylvester, blaming Cameron for the floods, claiming divine retribution for his decision on legalising gay marriage.  I'm not sure even Dosser is that paranoid.

Don't knock them too hard. Their existence will help get the Tories out next time.

It's the Guardian, what do you expect?

TBF it's also in the Daily Facist and The Torgraph for balance (i've not checked the daily communist). ALL 2.5 of the major parties are shitting themselves over UKIP and with good reason so anything to undermine them. The .5 is the LIB dems and there'll be fuck all left of them after the next general election.

Finishing first in my age category at this mornings park run. It's not the greatest achievement (only nine people in that actual age bracket), but never having finished first in anything it feels nice

Is that a lydiard? Do lots of people go? How competitive is it?

Maybe interested but it needs to be muddy and hilly.

Yeah, Lydiard. I've only been twice - last week there were over 400, this week just under. I don't know if that's representative though or just a 'new year resolution' boom.

It's competitive at the top, the winners do it in about 17-18 minutes. It's all on a path, so unless you go off piste you won't get too muddy (unless you go stomping through the puddles there are). There's only one hill of any note, which you do twice, as it's a two lap course.

For a timed, competitive 5k though, and all for free,  it's very good and I'd recommend it.

It's crazy how fast those at the top can do it. I think about 26-27 minutes will be about the middle, you do get all sorts doing it.

I was quite happy with my time, until I saw the number of 14 year olds that beat me.

So is that 17-18 minutes your speed then Dave?  impressive.

I was happy to get my 3 mile pace under 8 min/mile last year. Injury and illness means I'm well off that now

Hell no. I did it in 22 minutes yesterday, and was constantly on the 'oh no my stomach is going to explode' stage, so don't think I could have gone much faster
