Foreigners now have to report where they are staying within 24 hours. This means filling in a form and taking it all the way to immigration HQ (when in Bangkok) and queuing to get it done. This is a process that takes the best part of a day. So, basically, if I wanted a weekend away, it would mean not being able to work on the Monday.
This has been pointed out to immigration officials, to which came the reply that we should just travel less often. Something that I am sure the tourist board will be delighted to hear, the tourism sector is already struggling as it is.

I think this boat we’ve bought is fucking jinxed.
Not only did someone ram it and wrecked it a day after we bought it, but this morning in its replacement my sister in law broke a vertebrae in her back when we went through a larger boat’s wake and it threw her up in the air and she landed on the floor of the boat.

It's an old rule that the new immigration boss has recently decided to start enforcing. It won't affect you if you are just passing through because the receipt is only necessary when trying to extend a visa. |
