We’ve scored our last 16 penalties in a row I think, stretching back to 2016. No fuss. Neat and tidy.

Watching that Leicester vs Man City shoutout... Dear God, what a shambles. Has it not occurred to anyone that the best bet might be to run up and strike the ball at pace towards one corner of the net?
Too simple !!.

Surprise surprise, I know a little bit about it. I would say go to your local watersports club (when in Kefalonia, I assume) and try out the different options.

Some prefer the "sit on" type kayaks that you, would you believe, sit on a moulded ass shaped kayak. They are easier for bailing out of if things get a bit hairy but you can't really paddle a small picnic to an isolated cove or take a camera (unless you dry bag them and clip them on/wear a day sack).

Some like the "sit in" kayaks that oppositely you, sit inside. Sometimes they have a waterproof seal that goes around waist/hip level and attaches to the opening, thus you can stuff a camera/snacks/a day sack etc into it. However they are more practical but bailing out/emergency requires being comfortable at doing an "eskimo roll".

If you're just getting started the "sit on" may be best, to see if you like paddling about and comfortable. Going on a double kayak, with an experienced kayaker would also give extra confidence too.

Another option you might not have considered and great fun, is an SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard). You can sit down on them but they're basically like a large wide surfboard and you just paddle about at your own rate.

I know I'm an annoying cunt but I hope that was helpful. I'm fucking jealous.

I know it's dangerous... I've a mate who loves that sort of shit, not for me though, I don't mind a gentle canoe down the Wye or some of the French rivers, but that's it.

Hopefully the Ionian is a bit calmer than the North Sea or Loch Wotsit.

Never knew it was that dangerous, tbh. Haven’t done much since canoeing on the Avon at Chippenham in my youth.

It's not that dangerous. A lot of it is common sense and being prepared. Many incidents on the water (especially open water and high and faster river levels shortly after a flood/lots of rain) happen when people don't know the water they are in. They take for granted strong currents and ignore warning signs of inclement weather. The same with any outdoor activity. If you're not sure, wait. The sea, river, mountain will be there another day.

As long as you do the sensible things and get local advice, understand the tide times as well as slack tide, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun. The Ionian is likely to be a bit kinder than the North Sea but it's still an open body of water. November will be your worse time as that's flash flood season. When the culverts fill up in short time. Always strange when you've spent the Summer going up and down them in a Jeep! However from memory there is the fantastic Messilani Lake which has awesome caves, so a pootle round them would be very pleasant!

Any way, enjoy Aud!

What’s this bollocks about people wanting Santa to become gender neutral - whatever that is.

The world is really going mad.

Let’s change St Nicholas to St Nicola.

Its traditional media driven skewed outrage bollocks. The “people” are 27% of a small group of the public who were specifically asked for ways to modernise Santa. They were lead down the path and even then only a quarter suggested gender. Don’t trust the hype.

This quote from a passenger waiting at Gatwick made me laugh...

"I know it's for safety reasons and obviously I'd rather be safe but it just shows things need to change in the future. The law and our infrastructure haven't kept up with technology."

Or perhaps people could just not be knobs and break the law??

You do know that if someone asks for opinions on the TEF it is only polite to respond?  Having some little experience in the matter of canoeing on inland waters, I felt obliged to point out the potential hazards of sea kayaking.
