The wife got carried away at a charity auction and bid (and won) £90 for a BBQ meat hamper.
The value of the hamper has just been revealed at £25.
I know it's for charity, but those better be some bloody good sausages.

I'm usually anti all religion but I've been to church twice in 2 years including today and I'm starting to question myself as I got something from it both times. Maybe I'm looking for comfort or an answer, fuck knows. What I do know is that Stfc chaplain Simon Stevenette is a genuinely nice and decent bloke regardless. Head's gone to be honest. It's annoying as I didn't ever see myself saying this.

We have an innate tendency to look for patterns and agency.
It's an evolutionary advantage. Basically, if when in the wild we would hear a sound from the bushes, our minds would start wondering what it could be. Is it dangerous, can I eat it, can it eat me? This, combined with our ability for abstract thought, can make us feel as though something/somebody is there. That rustle in the bushes might have just been the wind, but it wouldn't stop us imagining a beastie with eyes and fangs etc. I've felt 'something' when I've been in Buddhist temples. People of all faiths will tell you the same. They can't all be right that it's their particular sky-daddy (but they can all be wrong).
When in a Church or similar place of worship (which are usually quiet) our brains go into overdrive and start looking for stuff. We've already been programmed to think a magical sky-daddy supposedly lives there and the pieces fall into place. Churches are also likely to be old and quite awe-inspiring. Also why would it only happen in church? This being is supposed to be everywhere.
Derren Brown did an episode touching on this. On how we look for or 'feel' things that aren't there. He also 'converts' an atheist, albeit temporarily. Note the part early on where they are in a dark cellar and some are convinced there's something in there with them.

Me too. Generally boredom, and occasionally anger that poor people are taking food to the monks when there's so much hunger around. Personally, I'd recommend taking the good lessons out of religion whilst ignoring anything that you're told God wants.

Why do some blokes, of a certain age, still insist on still wearing budgie smugglers at the beach?
I’ve worn shorts for ages but some of the old codgers waddling out of the Ionian today were eye waterlingly grotesque.

You've got it all wrong Audrey I remember donkeys years ago meeting a couple from London way, she quite happily went topless in the sea. Felt awkward when she came and sat at the table for drinks still in the same state of undress and we were chatting about excursions. Didn't know where to look

I took the toddler for a paddle yesterday when, without any shame, some ancient old trout disrobes right in front of us. Huge, dangling tits and a belly covering, thank God, her lady parts.
