Quote from: Saxondale
We rescheduled a gig on Sunday.  Kodaline in Birmingham.  Up to our knees in snow.  Likely that only 30% of people would be able to make it.  No public transport running.  Police advising not to travel.

The amout of abuse and threats the venue and the band got was a bloody joke.

People can be arseholes.

Some people's reaction to Peter Kay cancelling all future activities due to a family issue (in the minority thankfully).

Yeah I'm sure its nothing at all serious. Dicks.

What a hateful shitcunt.

Got tickets for my girlfriend for Christmas. Lazy arsehole.

Biggest problem I see with bitcoin is it needs some sort of hard fork, in its current iteration it’s too slow and won’t ever cope with modern day amounts of transactions.

I’ve read books on Bitcoin sometime back, so haven’t fact checked this and aren’t entirely sure if I’m correct, but Bitcoin can only process 7 transactions a second, or could.

It only needs to process 1 per second currently, but as the block size has increased, it’s slowed transactions down and it can now only do just under 4 per second.

Visa does 22,000 transactions a second, so something needs to give.

Then there’s the fact that about 40% of Bitcoin is owned by about 1000 people.

Also, saw this on Twitter.

Like other new tech, the pioneer isn't always the one to succeed.

Blockchain will change the world and Bitcoin has forged the way for digital currency, but an as yet unknown will no doubt be the currency of the future.

The word "Feminism". Don't get me wrong, I support equality of the sexes. But the word itself bothers me. Racism, Sexism, Ageism etc are all similar words but they are much clearer in what they represent. And a *-ist person in these cases is generally seen to be a negative, whereas being a feminist is a good thing.

Surely there must be a better word for a movement or person fighting for equality than feminism which in itself seems to limit the entry criteria to ~50% of the population ? I know a man can be a feminist but it seems odd when people are fighting for gender-neutral vocabulary to replace every "man" word that the word feminism is the best we can come up with

Shitter, isn’t it?!

My issue is I can see it happening again. Was poised to buy Ripple yesterday, and it’s doubled in price since.

And it’s now nearly quadrupled.

Persimmon pay their CEO £130m bonus while welshing on their S106 obligations at Coate:

Glad you brought that one up, although it isn't really trivial.  Should be in te political thread.

TBF to SBC, they are shafted by Tory central government, who I don't suppose have any sizeable donations from housebuilders or directorships in said companies.  Further I don't suppose any of them salt their ill gotten gains away in off shore tax havens.

I'd look at this another way, after setting some mafia type on the Persimmon group.  If the Council was willing to approve planning permission on other sites, why not cut out the middle man (I think they are on a small scale).  They can then also ensure a sufficient supply of low cost homes while using the profits on higher end properties to subsidise that.

Glancing at Strictly and I was wracking my brains who Debbie McGee reminds me of.
