There are houses not far from the A419.

How could anyone buy a home next to a dual carriageway and not be prepared!  "It's like living next to a motorway" - well yes, it's pretty much the next step down from exactly that you thick twat.  Dream house - 7 viewings would have given them more than enough insight to the fact it had a big road next to the house, very few people would look at that and go "dream house, sorted".  Cheaper house that we can afford that would be beyond our price range if in a quiet cul-de-sac more like.

Limited sympathy, but how did that house get built? Surely this kind of thing is why we have planning regulations?

(I realise this is basically the Horlock07 bat signal)

Right, I actually don't really know where to start with this abomination, its not so much a planning matter, more environmental health/highways one.

Its so bloody odd I even went back to the Councils website to look at the planning application, normally in such matters I would expect the applicant to have been asked to provide a Noise Statement and a Highways Statement at least, but none appear to be there, likewise the comments from EH or Highways (both who would have been statutorily consulted) don't seem to be there either.

Ultimately the 'amenity' of existing and future occupiers is a planning consideration, and noise falls very strongly in this, I am doing a scheme next to a fairly busy A road (not dual I hasten to add) and despite there being a strong belt of trees between the new dwellings and the road we have been required to provide a  noise assessment. In this case I would have expected at least a EH objection without further info which would have facilitated a refusal.

In conclusion, it was a PDL site so prime for development, however, I don't bloody know......

Our opposition have a goal set up that has largely been a no go area this season.

Who moves next to a dual carriageway and doesn’t expect some noise!  Keep your mouth shut and try to move, don’t advertise that your house has an issue!

One minute and says she had something like seven viewings, all early on Saturday mornings, the next she says it starts at 5.30 am and goes on until 8 pm,  what time in the morning did she go to view it ??.   As the old saying goes - You don't buy a house in Heathrow and then complain about aeroplanes !!.

Not as close and the house directly adjacent to the A420 near Acorn bridge. Always wondered how anyone could live in there. The row of houses on Kingshill at the top also filthy from fumes and doors open straight onto the road.

We looked at a number of houses in the country and one we really liked had noticeable traffic noise when you were in the garden and that was right during lockdown but was also quite far away from the closest road. Surely when she first went to see this 'dream' house the dual carriageway probably raised more than a few red flags?

You would have thought so anyway, unless they viewed at night!
