Any pension experts on here?

I’ve had an annuity paid for years from my cashed in Zurich pension - always been the same amount. Today the amount has increased by nearly 50%.

Is this likely to be a mistake as I thought annuity amounts were set in stone once taken.

Yeah I'm a bit of a pensions geek. I'm an IFA and also used to work for Zurich, so particularly well qualified to answer this one!

Sounds like a Guaranteed Minimum Pension, they generally come into payment at age 65. They apply to pensions that were contracted out. I'm guessing yours was if you had two pots with Allied Dunbar, they tended to split the pots between protected and non-protected rights.

PM if you need any more help.

That seems to explain it, then. Thanks for that.

Tbh, I have no idea what type of pensions I took out with Dunbar. I’ll trawl through some old paperwork and see what I can find.

Cheers!

He got a test then in April? Despite only those hospitalised eligible for testing then, despite not being in a high risk group - remember though, we are all in this together!

People panic buying in the supermarket.

Panic buying fuel too. (Which is ironic as you shouldnt be going anywhere unless essential)

Fucking morons.

Apart from a few morons loading up trollies with a lifetime supply of loo roll and pasta, nobody is really panic buying and stockpiling. People just change their shopping habits from popping in three or four times a week, to doing a big weekly or fortnightly shop. They're buying stuff now instead of in a week or two.

Supermarkets all use a 'Just In Time' system to manage stock, sudden changes to buying patterns throw the system out of kilter hence empty shelves.

Maybe that's why it wasn't kept quiet until now😁
