Its a new level of incompetence for sure.
Peter.  Don’t hold back.  Let us know who the seller was so we can all pop round and pick up a couple of cheap death traps.

I'd love to know which thought processes ended up with that result.
It would have been better if they’d used Twine instead of Sellotape!
Sorry, wrong thread!!

Something along these lines?

No idea the sister in law bought it from a private seller on the FB selling pages, some young bloke from Bridgwater.

Surprised they didn't bond it with Foil tape.

And yeah PV, incompétence is one word.

Haha FH, I seriously can't think what made them think it was a good solution. Possibly ergonomics, as a very slim call...whilst throwing all aspects of safety out the window, maybe the plug socket was below a worktop and they drilled through the worktop to...no.

The sister in law bought a 2nd hand cooker for cheapish on Facebook, so I went round to wire it in and found this connected to it.

Yes that is sellotape.
Yes that is a 13a plug.
Yes that is indeed 2 holes drilled through the top of the plug with the wires pushed through.
Yes the wire inside was obviously too thick for the 13a fuse connector so the 10 twisted strands of copper wire on the live and the neutral had been cut off so that only 2 were actually inside the connector.

So that’s why it didn’t work, I wish I never sold it now.

She saved Ł300 on the brand new price, this does not annoy me as I am sure you are referring to my sister in law who does not work due to having 2 young autistic sons.

Is such practice the done thing these days, I know it was an urban myth when I was a teenager that one did such things as 'it made it look bigger' but I must confess I have never felt the urge to under take trimming down there.

One of the big football podcasts currently has a very disturbing advert for said products. I can't say I've ever fancied taking a shaver to them.
