Cheers, yeah its a gorgeous part of the world. We had a largish cottage with fantastic views. As my nieces and nephew are quite young we didn't walk as much as the adults normally would, but we went on the Ullswater Steamers to Pooley Bridge and had a boozy afternoon tea which was pleasant Tempted to sell the gaff in London and move up there as country living becomes more and more appealing as the years go on! We are there for a week on August, staying in a cottage right on the edge of Ullswater.

Cumberland pencil museum in Keswick I like a good museum, especially the tiny ones which are only kept going by the volunteers.... ok you're not going to go from one end of the country to the other for one, but if you happen to be around.... This is one I found in the summer... http://www.museum.uffington.net/worth 10 minutes of anyone's time. On my my radar is this..... http://pewsey-heritage-centre.org.uk/index.phpthink it is quite recent, comes out of hibernation at the weekend. I'll be interested if they include anything about Henry Hunt, son of Upavon, and orator at Peterloo, or anything about the Captain Swing riots of the 1830's, when the Vale of Pewsey was a hotbed of agitation.

If you haven't been before PV, here's some tips for visits (if that's your thing). * Buttermere via the honister slate mine * Grasmere to get the fabulous gingerbread * Derwent water to row the lake * Castlerigg stone circle just outside Keswick * Beatrix Potter House at Near Sawrey, you can visit Hawkshead too. If you want to tackle fell walking then cat bells is a good one for the novice, or blencathra via sharp edge if you are experienced.

Lovely stuff, you'll have a great time up there, even better if the weather is decent!

Paki and nigger in a public place, with a police family background. Not sackable? Says it all. She'd be at home stewarding in Montenegro.

But reading the story the police were against her being reinstated.

Still happened though. Wonder if that argument would stand up in court " not the worst kind of racism "

Just had a new water bill, we use on average 180L a day (roughly 2 baths full) compared with the average 3 person household use of 367L a day. so below half of the average.
What the hell are people using that much water for?
